"A brooding and very reserved yet impressively elegant and refined nose featuring very fresh notes of red, blue and violet aromas introduces big-boned, rich and distinctly robust and sleekly muscled flavors that do a slow build from the mid-palate to an explosive finish. This has huge underlying reserves and while this is very firmly structured, the tannic spine is well buffered. I very much like this as it's fashioned in a classic Bonnes Mares vin de garde style that will last for 30 years or more. A great effort."

"Very voluptuous and rich. Broad spread of flavours, some airborne quality. Real lift and transparency. Some of the earthiness of Bonnes Mares too. Attractive, sandy tannins. Pretty gorgeous!"

"A deeper dark red than the 2011, but there is a little bit of brettanomyces on the nose. On the palate the correct fruit is very much still there, has not been completely eaten. A very light spritz too. Pascal Marchand era muscularity is also evident. Slightly flawed but still plenty of interest. With aeration the quality fruit swells. The bacterial element introduces a caveat, but this is a wine which might respond well to significant aeration before drinking. Tasted Dec 2021."
