"The 2018 Brut Blanc de Blancs, made from Chardonnay grown on a chalky slope, spent 34 months on lees after half of the base wine fermented in oak. Chalk and lemon are faint and breezy on the nose but become definite on the palate, where the ripe roundness and smooth creaminess of the fruit become apparent against a backdrop of chalkiness. This strikes a wonderful balance of mellowness with an electric streak of freshness. Wonderful umami makes the finish totally moreish. Disgorged: October 2022."

"Full bottle 1,603 g. 100% Chardonnay. 50% fermented in 225-litre and 500-litre oak barrels. Bottled 4 July 2019, disgorged 20 October 2022. Dosage 6.2 g/l, TA 7.6 g/l. A really interesting nose – it smells almost peppery! White pepper and walnuts. Formidable structure despite tiny, lacy bubbles – the acidity runs through the wine like a drive shaft, vibrating with power. Taut citrus, marine-like saltiness, the sour-cream tang of cheesecake and a barely noticeable weft of toasted-nut and spice savouriness which will develop beautifully with time. A hint of honey and iodine. White-pepper spiciness and so much texture it feels as if it has Egyptian-cotton tannins. I would seriously buy this wine to lay down for a few years. It lasted for 10 days in the fridge, tasting better and better each time. If you're drinking it now, it's a wine for the table, not for aperitif sipping. VGV (TC)"
