"Notes of bay leaf, ripe dark berries, spices, plum and dark cherries introduce the 2023 Canon la Gaffelière, a medium- to full-bodied wine that is enveloping and chewy, built around a fleshy core of fruit that gains depth and power over the course of élevage."
Yohan Castaing, April 2026, RobertParker.com
"The 2023 Canon-La-Gaffelière showed well from barrel. Now in bottle, this has an elegant bouquet with brambly red berry fruit, sous-bois, touches of tobacco and a light cedar scent. The palate is medium-bodied with a little chewiness on the entry though that should be remedied with bottle age. What it needs to conjure is more complexity in the middle. The 2023 does not kick on like a delicious 2009 had done the previous week. Perhaps I was expecting a little more from this fine address?"
Neal Martin, February 2026, Vinous.com
"The 2023 Canon La Gaffelière is a total stunner. Blood orange, exotic spice and red-toned fruit scream out of the glass. Heady and explosive to the core, the 2023 dazzles from the very first taste. Clean, mineral notes extend the effortless, gracious finish. This is such a gorgeous, contemporary wine from the Neipperg family. Don't miss it!"
Antonio Galloni, March 2026, Vinous.com
"Complex aromas and flavors with so much perfume, showing dark cherries and raspberries with cedar and sandalwood character. Stony, salty undertones. Very refined tannins lead to a bright, vivid finish with dried mushrooms. Such class. A blend of 45% cabernet franc, 35% merlot and 20% cabernet sauvignon. Drinkable now but better in 2028."
James Suckling, January 2026, JamesSuckling.com
"Medium to full ruby red, delivers estate signature, chalky, oyster shell salinity, crushed raspberry and liquorice, really great stuff that is still at the very beginning of its life, reserved but full of promise, great stuff. 75% in oak barrels for ageing (40% new) on the lees. 25% in vats. 35hl/ha."
