"Ridge's Lytton Estate Petite Sirah, first bottled separately in 2002, is sourced from vines planted between 1901 and 2008. The 2022 vintage is 100% Petite Sirah, organically grown in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley. The wine is hand-harvested, whole-berry fermented with native yeasts, undergoes full malolactic fermentation naturally, and is aged for sixteen months in air-dried American oak barrels. This wine delivers power, depth, and a seamless integration of fruit and oak. The 2022 vintage experienced an early spring and mild weather, contributing to a uniform but moderate set. A May frost reduced yields in some blocks, but due to variance in bud break, most of the vineyard was spared. Rich fruit, ample acid, and firm tannin showcase the balance and quality typical of this exceptional vineyard. Approachable even as a young wine, this classic Petite Sirah will continue to evolve over the next ten to fifteen years. Inky and intense, this Petite Sirah delivers bold flavours of blackberry compote, cassis, and dark chocolate, accented by hints of crushed pepper and earthy minerality. The tannins are firm yet polished, creating a dense and structured palate with remarkable depth. A long, velvety finish reveals notes of toasted oak, black liquorice, and a touch of violet."
