C de Calon Ségur 2022

C de Calon Ségur 2022 shimmers in the glass with a vibrant deep ruby hue, it’s so appealing I wonder if I’m predisposed to love this wine?  On the nose, an intoxicating bouquet of small, concentrated berries—wild raspberries, blackcurrants and boysenberries—jumping out of the glass. On tasting, you are struck by a compote-like richness: the fruit folds over the palate in layers of stewed berry sweetness, yet never verges on cloying. The tannins are polished and irresistibly silky, offering a succulent, juicy grip that dances between firmness and suppleness. Remarkably, despite the quoted 15 % alcohol—which one would expect to manifest in a little heat on the palate—there is not the slightest suggestion of it. Instead, an invigorating freshness prevails, lifting the wine with bright acidity and a lingering clean, finish.

I think this is utterly superb value for money and something I am without question going to order myself for home.
