"A real discovery for me. Rich, broad and generously textured, with ripe orchard fruit, a lovely buttery richness and a rather old-fashioned lick of toasty oak. There's considerably more depth and flair here than one might ordinarily expect from Saint-Romain, with just enough freshness to keep everything beautifully balanced. I thought this was absolutely smashing, particularly for the money."

"The 2022 Saint Romain La Combe Bazin has a delicate bouquet with touches of yellow flowers and light citrus fruit. The palate is well balanced and cohesive, with much more complexity than the Auxey-Duresses, displaying notes of lemon rind and a slightly nutty/smoky finish. This should drink well for four or five years. Tasted at merchants' 2022 Burgundy tastings in London."
