"The 2014 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts has an engaging bouquet that is very terroir expressive and well defined. It offers vivid redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit enriched by woodland scents, damp moss and crushed stone. The palate comes across as very structured and saline, quite masculine after tasting the 2015 from barrel, though Sebastien Cathiard pointed out that after a month it seemed to close up. Whilst not quite as riveting as the 2015, it still fulfills the promise of the barrel sample I tasted last year."

"Bright medium red, a bit less deep than the preceding wines Sexy leesy wildness to the aromas of black raspberry, blackcurrant and minerals At once sweet and savory, showing excellent chewy depth for the 2015 vintage, and an impression of concentration that belies the yield of 48 hectoliters per hectare In a distinctly black fruit style, conveying terrific inner-mouth lift and energy to its flavors of blueberry, cassis and minerals The ripe tannins saturate the entire mouth on the back end, with saline minerality drawing out the finishing fruit This is showing more personality today than the Murgers and may provide pleasure earlier, but it has the structure for a 20-year life in bottle"
Stephen Tanzer, March 2017
"Reduction dominates the nose though there is first-rate vibrancy to the big, intense, powerful and muscular flavors that are almost pungently mineral. As is usually the case with this wine chez Cathiard it is robust and exceptionally firm yet there is nothing aggressive about the structure on the ripe finale, indeed this is notably less youthfully austere than usual. As the description would suggest however it is pointless to open one of these beauties before it has at least 10 years of age. In a word, brilliant."
