Tbilvino Saperavi Twin Vineyards 2022

Saperavi is Georgia’s most well-known red grape—its name translates to "dye," which is fitting given its intense colour. For those who haven’t tried it, this Tbilvino 'Twin Vineyards' Saperavi sits at the more premium end of what the variety can produce. It’s rather akin to a combination of Syrah and Malbec, but darker still — dark berries, very full-bodied, yet with rich fruit beautifully balanced by savoury spice and really velvety tannins. It’s such a joyful wine, universally appealing, and one of those bottles that just puts a big smile on my face. It did exactly that a fortnight ago when I last tasted this vintage.
