"The 2024 Le Marquis de Calon-Ségur is a blend of 63% Merlot (including some of the estate's best Merlots that didn't "fit" in the grand vin blend) and 37% Cabernet Sauvignon that attained 13.2% alcohol. Wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet cassis, violets and bergamot, it's medium-bodied, round and supple, with a suave, polished style that's nicely balanced and complete. This is a very strong effort in the making."

"The 2024 Le Marquis de Calon Ségur, matured in 20% new French oak for a planned 17 months, is missing some fruit concentration on the nose. Therefore, it comes across a little austere, especially when compared to recent vintages. The palate is simple with rounded tannins, fine acidity, light spiced black fruit and touches of brown spices on the finish. But it just lacks some bite and complexity, so this is one for earlier drinking."

"The 2024 Le Marquis de Calon Ségur is a classy, polished wine. Dark cherry, spice, new leather, cedar, incense and tobacco fill out the layers nicely. Medium in body, with terrific depth, the 2024 is impeccably done. It offers lovely textural resonance and fine balance, making for a very impressive second wine from the château."
Antonio Galloni, April 2025, Vinous.com
"This is a very refined, juicy wine that almost feels complete, with aromas of red and black berries and touches of incense and graphite. Firm tannins show nice tension, with more fruit on the medium-bodied palate. Quite juicy and long at the end. 63% merlot and 37% cabernet sauvignon."
James Suckling, May 2025, JamesSuckling.com
"Clearly skilful construction of the wines here, with precision and balance. Austerity on the finish, as is classic in Cabernet-dominant wines in 2024, with emphasis on cassis bud and slate, very pretty. 3.55 pH. 45hl/ha yield, 20% new oak. Harvest 23 September to 9 October. Vincent Millet director."
