"The 2025 Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte has a slightly earthier bouquet with red berry fruit, gravel and light tobacco scents unfolding in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip on the entry, very Cabernet-driven with black fruit laced with tobacco and graphite notes towards the finish. It will flesh out during its barrel maturation (10% new) and should drink well for a decade or more."

"The 2025 Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte is redolent of blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol, new leather, licorice and espresso. Medium in body, with fine energy, Le Petit Smith offers plenty of Cabernet Sauvignon savoriness to match its mid-weight personality."

"Supple and juicy with both ripe creamy fruit and lively acidity as well as firm structure. I like the Cabernet aspect – blackcurrant leaf, bramble berries, fresh mint, concentrated, dark and cool with a delicious wet stone, flinty, salty aspect. Not too dense but there’s length and good body with a real push of aromas and fragrance as well as intensity of flavour all the way through. Very good. 3.6pH. A yield of 28hl/ha. Began the red harvest from the 3 September to the end."

"(Pessac-Léognan; 60% Cabernet Sauvignon; 40% Merlot; a final yield of 28 hl/ha; 13.5% alcohol; tasted at the Smith Haut-Lafitte with Fabien Teitgen and Tracey Dobbin). Not so petit! Classical. Poised. Aromatically very expressive. Lovely cedar note replaces the graphite of Les Hauts. This is darker fruited with more susbtance, inky in a way. We have incense, black cherry, black berry, black pepper - all is black! This is a little more serious, but just as succulent and beguiling. Essential, fresh and with a lovely natural sweetness to the fruit. Long and rippling on the lifted finish. The grain of the tannins is finer still, and as with Les Hauts, this is very spherical in form in the mouth."
