Critic reviews
"A strong effort from this over-performing cuvée, derived from vines planted in 1976, Billaud's 2022 Petit Chablis is a medium to full-bodied, suave and charming wine evocative of sweet citrus fruit, white flowers, green apple and beeswax."
William Kelley, September 2023, RobertParker.com
"The 2022 Petit Chablis Sur Les Clos has a crisp nose, stricter than the 2023 and perhaps with a touch more horsepower. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, a little more depth than the 2023, smooth and harmonious towards the finish. Lovely."
Neal Martin, June 2024, Vinous.com
"There is plenty of classic Chablis typicity to the ripe yet cool and fresh aromas of lemon-lime and iodine. The racy and attractively textured flavors exude evident minerality and particularly so on the focused, linear and youthfully austere finale. This is also very good for its level and worth considering."
Allen Meadows, October 2024, Burghound.com
"Bottled. Vines on a plateau above Les Clos, more than 40 years old. Stony soils give a more mineral than a fruity style. It may not be fruity but it is intensely aromatic: cedary citrus and a hint of lime blossom. So inviting. A touch of stone dust, too. For a Petit Chablis this has really good concentration and purity combined. Piercingly fresh and mouth-wateringly moreish."
Julian Harding, July 2023, JancisRobinson.com
"Super-precise and yet with plenty of complexity for a Petit Chablis. Apple fruit flavours, great acidity and also lots to enjoy already. A very fine example. The vines, situated above the forest of Les Clos, were planted in 1976 by Samuel's father."
Andy Howard, October 2023, Decanter.com
"Pale lemon colour. Who would have thought this was merely a Petit Chablis when you put the glass to your nose? Quite fleshy now with a few months bottle age, but delivering a delicious full-bodied Petit Chablis."
