Harrow and Hope Blanc de Noirs
English Sparkling Wine 2019
England, England
This was the wine I was most intrigued to taste, limited volumes hadn't allowed me to try either the 2015 or 2018 incarnations. Typically, Blanc de Noirs is very much my preferred style for English fizz and with 80% wild barrel ferment for the first time and 100% Pinot Noir, on paper this should be right up my street and I would go so far to say that this is the most impressive and enjoyable English sparkling wine I've tried...at any price point.
"A striking nose that leaps out of the glass, strawberries, white flowers and a little hint of toast. The nose remind me a little of the flamboyance of Krug. The palate is what makes this wine so special for me, full of soft summer fruits, strawberries, brambles and wonderfully rounded, powerful and comforting, yet retaining a sense of delicacy at the same time. This screams Pinot Noir, it’s so very instantly appealing. I’d drink this now, though I'm intrigued how it ages."
