"As usual, the 2023 Puygueraud, a blend of 90% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec, remains a sure bet for readers seeking well-executed Bordeaux wines. It exhibits aromas of mulberries, blueberries, spices and delicate oaky hints. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it’s fleshy and seamless with a long, dense and mineral finish framed by licorice and spice hints."
Yohan Castaing, April 2024, RobertParker.com
"The 2023 Puygueraud feels just a little muddled on the nose and lacks the delineation that I have discerned on other vintages. The palate is medium-bodied, with sour cherry on the opening, dry tannins and a lightweight finish. I have drunk much better from this estate."
Neal Martin, February 2026, Vinous.com
"The 2023 Puygueraud is packed with dark red plum, new leather, licorice, dried herbs and incense. Fruit is nicely pushed forward in this mid-weight offering from the Thienpont family. The 2023 is an especially rich, heady edition of Puygueraud because of low yields and intense heat at the end of the season. Tasted three times."
Antonio Galloni, March 2026, Vinous.com
"Soft and delicious, showing blackberry, mushroom, bark and spice aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied with round tannins and a savory, even plush finish. Sweet, ripe fruit. But then goes crunchy. A blend of 90% merlot, 9% cabernet franc and 1% malbec. Drink or hold."
James Suckling, January 2026, JamesSuckling.com
"Excellent evolution over ageing, you see the quality approach of owner Nicolas Thienpont, polished tannic structure, and the small details are all very well realised, with clarity, spice, crushed raspberry and blueberry fruits, and everything feels in balance. A rare two point upscore from En Primeur, one to look out for. 23h/h yield. Harvest September 13 to 26. Derenoncourt consultancy."
