Critic reviews
"Introverted and reserved, with a suggestion of oxidative character, the 2025 Saint-Pierre is somewhat disappointing at this stage, revealing aromas of spice and dark berries. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and concentrated, it’s built around a firm, assertive tannic frame, concluding with a somewhat dry finish. The sample was prepared on April 13 for a tasting on April 21, which may not fully reflect the wine’s evolution—particularly during the en primeur period, when wines can change markedly from day to day. It will merit reassessment after élevage."

"The 2025 Saint-Pierre (Saint-Julien) does not quite possess the delineation or clarity of the Gloria this year, perhaps summer warmth just impinging on the aromatics more, quite high-toned and opulent. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, powdery in texture, slightly chalky, but it coheres nicely on the finish. Good backbone and plenty of freshness, there is a dash of white pepper on the finish. Excellent."

"The 2025 Saint-Pierre (Saint-Julien) is superb. Crème de cassis, graphite, licorice, cloves, lavender and inky dark fruit saturate the palate. Cabernet Sauvignon speaks with striking intensity from start to finish. This full-bodied, explosive Saint-Julien delivers the goods, big time. Tasted two times."
Antonio Galloni, April 2026, Vinous.com
"Exuberant dark fruit. This is structured, with a touch of cedar and polished, fine-grained tannins that are so sophisticated and run the length of the wine. Classy. 78% cabernet sauvignon, 15% merlot, 4% cabernet franc and 3% petit verdot."
James Suckling, April 2026, JamesSuckling.com
"Cassis, violets, and graphite all define the 2025 Château Saint-Pierre, with some spicy nuance that makes it just a stunning, gorgeously textured Saint-Julien. It's incredibly pure and medium to full-bodied on the palate, with ultra-fine tannins and no hard edges. A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot aging in 60% new French oak, it has so much to love and will absolutely be an outstanding wine. "

"Lovely wine, attractive with lift and bright fruits, great quality, sappy, a lot of slate and pumice stone, roasted coffee beans, intense and concentrated, plenty of ageing ability. Yield 20 hl/ha."

"Really ripe and fragrant with some dried herbal accents. Lovely grip on the palate, filling tannins but really fresh and juicy giving a cool, minty, wet stone and blueberry aspect. Quite a crushed stone, chalky powdery texture, but it’s soft and not harsh at all. Has all the markings of a lovely wine and the tannins will soften over ageing. I like it. 4% Petit Verdot completes the blend."

"(Saint-Julien; 78% Cabernet Sauvignon; 15% Merlot; 4% Cabernet Franc; 3% Petit Verdot; a final yield of 20 hl/ha; 13% alcohol; tasted twice, the second time at the UGCB press tasting at the Cité du Vin and also at Château de Sales). Serious and seriously beguiling, this is much less hedonistic and immediately voluptuous than its stablemate Gloria. It's beautifully made, with the most delicate and fine-grained of tannins contributing to a brilliantly precise, focussed and luminous mid-palate that exudes crystalline clarity. It's not massively expressive aromatically at this early stage but that's not a problem in any sense. But what it does have is a beautifully elegant dark berry fruit and a lovely touch of walnut shell. "
