"The 2023 Alter Ego, bottled late July, takes a few swirls of the glass to cohere, but offers quite enticing scents of blueberry, violet, blood orange and vanilla. Very fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet black cherries and blackcurrant laced with black pepper. Gentle grip with just a touch of bitterness that lends tension. This sample was decanted, which I feel benefited its showing."

"The 2023 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou is another terrific wine in this range from Bruno Borie. Crushed flowers, red/purplish fruit, mint mocha, rose petal and cinnamon are nicely pushed forward. Savory aromatic inflections from the Cabernet Sauvignon lead into the resonant finish."
Antonio Galloni, March 2026, Vinous.com
"A wine that shows precision, freshness and structure. Tight and tense, with aromas of fresh blueberries, blue plums, minerals and berries. Restrained and tightly wound, with a medium to full body and a long, tense finish. Very crunchy, with fresh, savory tannins. A chiseled vintage that shows tension and finesse. 58% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon and 2% petit verdot. Already attractive, but better in two more years."
