Critic reviews
"The 2020 Brut Blanc de Blancs, made from Chardonnay grown on a steep chalky slope in the Thames Valley, spent 35 months on lees after fermentation in 500-liter oak barrels. The creamy purity of green apple rises from the glass immediately. The palate has a playful lightness, skipping in with carefree fruitiness that underlines its youthful verve and perfect freshness. Underneath all that, a lovely chalkiness lingers, anchoring this in soil. Lovely, bright and fresh with potential to evolve. Disgorged: May 2024."
Anne Krebiehl MW, February 2025, Vinous.com

"Full bottle 1,620 g. 100% Chardonnay from Henry and Kaye Laithwaite's 6.5-ha vineyard in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. On chalk and gravel, from the steepest part of the vineyard on very thin soils. Organic farming. Low-intervention winemaking, 50% of the wine undergoes fermentation in 500-litre oak puncheons. 35 months sur lattes. TA 8.5 g/l, dosage 8.1 g/l. Bottled 11 May 2021, disgorged 4 June 2024. A murmuration of aroma and flavour that seems to swoop and grow in intensity from almost nothing, furling and unfurling. Oranges and nectarine, clementine and mirabelle. Exquisitely fine acidity, like a hundred thousand stars embroidered into the shimmer of fruit. There is a lode line of something savoury, roasted hazelnuts and creamed oats, perhaps, but it is so drenched in the glory of fruit that it's easy to miss. Even so, the precision of the structure is spine-tingling. This tastes as if it might go on forever (and I would love to taste it again in a few years' time). Very, very exciting. And when I compare it with the prices of some English sparkling wines now, this wine looks underpriced. "

"Delicious yellow apple and fresh quince with toasted crushed almonds with mouth filling apple pastry, lovely balance with a lingering finish."
