"The level of refinement and purity is immense, with flashy, perfumed aromas of black currants, olive brine, graphite, violets, mocha and licorice. The palate is in near-perfect balance, with a silken mouthfeel and fine-boned tannins that lead to a refined, pure and succulent finish. This is a truly excellent wine from an excellent vintage. Drink or hold."
James Suckling, November 2025, JamesSuckling.com

"Flash of capsicum and bitter chocolate, beautiful tension and lift, blackberry and damson fruit, luscious and easy to sink into, delivers drama and generosity. Nate Weis winemaker and director, owned by Treasury Wine Estates since 2016. 95% new oak for ageing."
Jane Anson, July 2026, JaneAnson.com

"The Private Reserve is a full-throttle red in 2023, enticing with its upfront blue-fruit, graham-cracker crust, and lavish toasty-oak richness. Full-bodied and even more generous on the palate, it unspools in waves of blue, black and red fruit, with rich brown spices dusting the gravelly tannins. For all its richness, it carries an energetic lift that is a hallmark of the cool growing season. This is one Private Reserve to cellar for a good long while."
Jonathan Cristaldi, March 2026, Decanter.com

"There’s a little less Petit Verdot in the blend this year. Supple, subtle, elegant and refined with massive aging potential. Floral, yet aromatically a little dominated by the toasty oak at least for now. But what we know as soon as this is in one’s mouth is the potential to absorb the oak. Massive, colossal, monumental and yet so silken in its texture from the sheer quality of the tannins. Dark cherry and dark berry fruits, pounded in a pestle and mortar to produce silken purée! Deeply impressive but a wine that really needs 20 years in the cellar, so great is the longterm potential here."
