Critic reviews
"The 2025 Côte de Baleau offers up notes of minty cherries and red fruit preserve, followed by a medium-bodied, firm, taut palate. Some two hectares of the estate, located on sandy soils, is undergoing replanting, so this year's blend is skewed in favor of the estate's more structured terroirs."
William Kelley, April 2026, RobertParker.com
"The 2025 Côte de Baleau, which comes more from the clay/limestone soils rather than sandy and underwent a lighter extraction, has a slight reduction on the nose, with quite a noticeable marine, slightly briny tincture that lends another dimension to the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiselled tannins, the blackberry and blueberry fruit clean and precise, not long, but there is good tension and just the right amount of sapidity."
Neal Martin, May 2026, Vinous.com
"The 2025 Côte de Baleau is quite dense in this vintage, largely due to a reduction of fruit from sandier soils. This usually comprises about a third of the blend, but these parcels are currently being redeveloped. Succulent dark cherry fruit, new leather, licorice, mocha and sweet French oak are pushed forward. Plush contours wrap it all up in style. This is a fine choice for medium-term drinking, once the tannins soften a bit. Tasted two times."
Antonio Galloni, April 2026, Vinous.com
"Enticing aromatics that beautifully capture the blue and black brambled fruits that are on offer in 2025. The oak is smoky and full of character, intense but with balance, skilfully handled. Harvest September 10 to 22. 25% new oak. 36hl/ha yield."
Jane Anson, April 2026, JaneAnson.com
"Ripe blackcurrant aromas on the nose. Fresh and lively with a lovely tangy aspect straight away - the acidity prominent in the glass. Juicy and lifted, nice and friendly with lots of strawberry, raspberry and cranberry fruit. The tannins come in towards the finish giving some compaction with a crushed velvet aspect but this should soften and harmonise nicely over ageing. A real combination of the clay structure with the limestone freshness and grip - you don’t feel the extraction, just the terroir. More structure than recent vintages. Natural yeast for fermentation. 3.6pH."

"(Saint-Émilion; 95% Merlot; 5% Cabernet Franc; a final yield of 36 hl/ha; 14% alcohol; tasted twice, the second time at Clos Fourtet). Lush, rich, deep and dark with lovely dark berry fruits very prominent alongside an essential and vibrant wild herbal note. There's a lovely touch of cedar too and a little incense. On the palate this is fleshy, with chewy tannins, a nicely linear core and a well-sustained finish. Very attractive and accessible already. "
