Critic reviews
"Youthfully primary aromas of blackberries and cassis introduce the 2025 Fonbel, a medium-bodied, bright and vibrant wine that belies the heat of the vintage."
William Kelley, April 2026, RobertParker.com

"The 2025 Château de Fonbel was picked between 9 and 23 September, and this year the blend includes 5% Carmenère. It has a light, brambly nose with redcurrant and cranberry, a little tertiary in style. The palate is medium-bodied, with soft tannins on entry, a little leathery, and it just needs to muster a little more brightness on the finish. I will be prudent with my assessment for now."
Neal Martin, May 2026, Vinous.com

"The 2025 De Fonbel is deep, fleshy and super expressive. The Cabernets play an important role in this year's blend. That comes through in the wine's aromatic profile and structural feel. There's a lot to like."
Antonio Galloni, April 2026, Vinous.com

"A little more serious than the Simard, dusky rose petals, slate and chalk, attractive dark fruits, a real kick on the finish, savoury and leafy. Harvest September 9 to 23. In organic conversion. 45hl/h yield, 3.7ph."
Jane Anson, April 2026, JaneAnson.com

"This is very delicious - a buy! Cool blue fruit with soft liquorice and flint aromas on the nose. Clean and juicy, this is fresh and focused with a red fruit and slightly savoury peppery spiced aspect from the 5% Carmenere in the blend. Floral, fresh but soft and almost creamy too - a nice combination of fruit and acidity giving a round but comforting mouthfeel. Charming, easy to approach with harmony, still lively with a kick on the finish but settled and balanced. A touch of enjoyable chalkiness lingers. Ageing no new oak, 30% one-year-old barrels. 3.7pH."
