"Another sleeper of the vintage, the 2025 Joanin Bécot is as gourmand and energetic as ever, revealing aromas of iris, lilac, dark berries and flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, juicy and enveloping, it’s tense and vibrant, built around a perfumed, fruit-driven mid-palate that leads to an ethereal, floral finish. It's a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc."
Yohan Castaing, April 2026, RobertParker.com

"The 2025 Joanin Bécot, which now contains 0.80 hectares of pre-phylloxera vines and matured in 50% new oak plus 35% foudres and the rest in amphora, has a pretty blackcurrant pastille and raspberry-scented bouquet with fine delineation. Not powerful, but precise. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins on the entry, fine sapidity, linear in style, with a touch of cracked black pepper on the finish. The Cabernet is actually quite expressive here, though the wine will fill out during its barrel maturation and gain more flesh."

"The 2025 Joanin-Bécot is fabulous. Dark and sumptuous, with gorgeous fruit purity, the 2025 is positively stellar. I don’t think I have tasted a Joanin-Bécot with this much intensity and sheer textural presence. Inky dark red/purplish fruit, spice, new leather, dried flowers and lavender open first, followed by a range of floral and savory Cabernet Franc overtones. Clay-rich soils lend notable breadth and presence. The resonant, expansive finish is stunning."

"Black raspberry, cassis, graphite, sappy flowers, and some chalky minerality all emerge from the 2025 Château Joanin Bécot, a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux. It's medium-bodied on the palate, beautifully balanced, and elegantly textured, with fine, polished tannins. It's another brilliant wine from this family that readers should snatch up, and it will stand side by side with a brilliant Saint-Émilion. Buy a case and thank me later."
Jeb Dunnuck, May 2026, JebDunnuck.com

"Vivid and bright violet, red cherry, saffron, anis, lemongrass, slate, a ton of definition if austere at this early stage. New winery since September 2023. Juliette Bécot owner. An excellent estate that 8 years ago began a vineyard restructuration, letting certain plots rest for 5-6 years, plus new massal selection of Cabernet Franc. High vineyard at 130m altitude, and this is a reflection of its soils. 39 hl/ha. 3.50 pH. Harvest September 14 to 19. Thomas Duclos consultant."
Jane Anson, April 2026, JaneAnson.com

"Wonderful fragrance on the nose, smells gorgeous with ripe back fruit and wild purple flowers. Sapid and lithe, this is fresh and so fruity - really forward and alive. So juicy, almost tart but more like freshly picked strawberry juice with a citrus tang to the acidity as well as a chalky base. Mouthwatering but also ripe in terms of fleshy tannins and fresh acidity. A lovely combination with a lot going on. So ripe in terms of texture - velvety and almost creamy - but so fresh - cool mint, aniseed, slate and flint with that liquorice bite on the finish. A yield of 39hl/ha. 3.50pH."

"(Castillon, Côtes de Bordeaux; 85% Merlot; 15% Cabernet Franc; a final yield of 39 hl/ha; pH 3.50; 14% alcohol; tasted at Beau-Séjour Bécot). There's a lovely glossyness to the deep rich black cherry fruit; it's also very ample in the mouth. A little cassis and blackberry with a lovely subtle blueberry fruit too. There's graphite, too, and a little sloe and damson. Supple, sumptuous, really pushing into the cheeks, succulent at the core and juicy, but also brilliantly structured by the tannins injecting freshness and minerality at each engagement. A big wine. But beautifully refined and very elegant."
