"The 2024 Prelude is a very impressive introduction to the Clos Apalta range, wafting from the glass with an effortless, perfumed and floral bouquet, supported by a dark, alluring backdrop that I find characteristic of the 2024 vintage. The mouthfeel exudes a lovely density that retains a sense of levity rather than emphasizing overt concentration. It culminates in a blooming, refined finish that lingers with retronasal floral notes. The blend is 64% Carmenère, 18% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc."

"The 2024 Prelude from Clos Apalta, Colchagua (64% Carménère, 18% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc) was aged for 17 months in mostly used French oak. The nose opens with notes of native forest—boldo and quillay—alongside balsamic herbs and black fruit, especially blackberry. The palate is broad and creamy, with good flavor intensity and a slightly plush texture. This vintage gives it a softer, more approachable feel."

"Deep, glossy currants with blackberries, cocoa powder, meat, dark olive and fine spices. Subtle citrus and blue fruit, too. Pretty full-bodied and juicy with tight-wound tannins and a long, almost dusty finish. Quite precise. 64% carmenere, 18% merlot, 14% cabernet sauvignon and 4% cabernet franc. Drink from 2027."
Zekun Shuai, July 2026, JamesSuckling.com
"Well constructed, high fragrance, grip and tension, juicy blue and red fruits, a lovely example of how cooler vintages of Clos Apalta give time for the Carmanère to show its white pepper, white truffle character. Excellent. Andrea Léon winemaker. Harvest finished on April 25, starting in late February. 10% new oak for ageing."
Jane Anson, July 2026, JaneAnson.com
"The product of an easy growing period with a late harvest. Cool, fresh, bright and crisp. Creamy in texture and cedary aromatically with a subtle green herbal florality. There are notes of green peppercorns too, freshly crushed. Quite intimate, delicate and elegant with lovely finegrained tannins. Lifted and grippy, tense and tactile. The cool freshness of altitude is very authentically and beautifully conveyed. A lovely wine that is likely to represent great value."
