"The super-versatile and charming G.D. Vajra 2022 Barolo Albe mirrors the personality of a hot, dry vintage that delivers concentrated Nebbiolo flavors of blackcurrant, cherry and rose. The Albe bottling takes its name from the sunrises visible from the high-elevation vineyards used for this blend, with fruit sourced from several sites across Barolo to capture balance and complexity even in warmer years. There are earthy aromas as well and a hint of sweet orange. Darkly ripened fruit leads to solid tannins and rich concentration with enough stuffing to make this a great Barolo for near- or medium-term drinking."

"The 2022 Barolo Albe is laced with sweet dried red cherry, cedar, pipe tobacco, mint and orange peel. The aromatics are quite pretty, but the 2022 feels a bit light, especially on the mid-palate. It will be interesting to see if this fleshes out in bottle. This is a solid effort for the year."
