"The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru is pure and pretty, delivering aromas of sweet raspberries, cherries and spices, followed by a medium-bodied, bright and mineral palate, concluding with a perfumed finish. As usual, the blend is mainly composed of domaine fruit."
William Kelley, January 2025, RobertParker.com
"The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru comes from four of five different lieux-dits that are personally owned by the Drouhins. This is clean and pure on the nose. The 30% whole cluster is seamlessly integrated, with fine mineralité in the background. The palate is medium-bodied, silky smooth and beautifully balanced with fine tannins and a dash of white pepper and sous-bois toward the finish. This is a commendable follow-up to the 2022 and may even surpass it."
Neal Martin, January 2025, Vinous.com
"Cask sample. Right from the first nanosecond, the balance of this wine is there: à point. A dancer. Exquisite control. Everything just right. Scarlet fruit cutting through crimson tannins. Just enough chew and tug and traction to hold you, to make you pause. Just enough cherry and wild strawberry to make you want to wipe the dripping juice from your chin. Modest, understated, just bitter enough that it feels like a love bite. So, so good."
Tamlyn Currin, November 2024, JancisRobinson.com
"Rich fresh purple, quintessential Chambolle elegance, really fine as this cuvée so often is chez Drouhin. Perhaps even more sensual than usual in 2023, stretching out to a very long finish. Picked at the right time, ripe but not overdone. Drink from 2029-2036."
Jasper Morris, January 2029, InsideBurgundy.com
"About 80% of this is domaine fruit from parcels Robert Drouhin bought as often as he could. It is always a scintillating Premier Cru. The nose soars with cherry coulis, baked raspberries and sweet field strawberries. The luscious palate adds streaks of minerality and turned earth. Fluffy tannins and bustling acidity give this tremendous energy and aging potential. The lingering finish is still cram-packed with all those tasty red fruits!"
