"(the bottom parcel was totally frosted, while the top was untouched; the middle parcel was recently pulled up and was replanted in 2016): Bright light yellow. Lovely lift to the aromas of white peach and lemon zest. Concentrated, energetic wine with solid crushed-stone minerality giving shape to the glyceral middle palate. Quite firm and backward, finishing with slowly rising length and noteworthy grip. Today the Blagny is easier to taste, which is atypical for these two wines at Matrot, but this Charmes has more density of material and potential. It will require a good four or five years of cellaring, though."

"A penetrating nose offers up notes of matchstick, petrol, essence of pear and pretty acacia scents. The generously proportioned, pliant and seductively textured medium weight flavors brim with dry extract while the solidly persistent finish also flashes a hint of natural sweetness."
