"Le Clarence de Haut-Brion: The super 2008 (45% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Cabernet Franc) exhibits soft, ripe tannins as well as copious black cherry and loamy soil notes intermixed with notions of smoke and roasted herbs. It is a beautifully pure, deep, already delicious and complex wine that should drink nicely for 10-12 years."

"The 2008 Clarence Haut-Brion has a clean and fresh bouquet with hints of damp loamy soil and iris interwoven into the red berry fruit. There is something very “pastoral” about the aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, well balanced with decent depth. It is not overly complex but it conveys a sense of energy and there is a palpable saline note that lingers on the aftertaste. This is a real turn up for the books, far surpassing my own expectations. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 10-Year On tasting."
