"The NV Brut Reserve No. 8 blends 40% each of Buckinghamshire-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with 20% Pinot Meunier. It is based mostly on the 2019 vintage, with 24% reserve wines from 2014, 2017 and 2018, aged for just over 45 months on lees. Fresh white currant berries, lemon and smooth yeast create an understated nose full of freshness and promise. More air brings a touch of toasted corn, which is enticing and intriguing. The palate features a fine mousse, striking for its immense creaminess. While supple fruit stays in the background, profound umami notes are underlined by cool, serene freshness. A superbly fresh, grown-up and balanced wine. Disgorged: February 2024."

"Full bottle 1,610 g. 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Meunier. Based on 2019 wines with 25% reserves kept in oak. Bottled 5 May 2020, disgorged 23 March 2023. Dosage 8 g/l, TA 7.7 g/l. Big bubbles! Such a gorgeously creamy nose that I wanted to surrender to the wine glass. Hazelnut cream, brioche and lemon zest sliced into long ribbons of seductiveness by diamond-tipped acidity. Lemon verbena, lemon marmalade. Henry and Kaye Laithwaite have done it again – complex, vinous, every inch and etch an English sparkling wine but robustly fruity, friendly and open. Even a touch of pineapple sweeties. And a slightly smoky, lemon-chiffon-cake finish. This has the structure to age and might well gain more complexity by ageing. I taste this and all I want is a plate of buttery pan-fried scallops. (TC)"
