"The ripe 2020 vintage gives a real sweetness to the fruit of The Gimblett, a 50/50 blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Far too young, this deep purple wine is richly aromatic. It offers up lavish oak spice, fruit cake and plum, while the Franc component gives a pretty edge to the fragrance. The nose suggests that the wines will be rich and heavy, but it turns out to be rather pretty and elegant. There's no doubt there's plenty of concentration here, but the fine tension provided by the combination of acidity and tannin creates precision on the scented finish."
