Boekenhoutskloof Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
Franschhoek
South Africa, South Africa
Arriving: April 2025
"The nose is impeccably polished, offering layered aromas of blackcurrant, brambles, vanilla, and warm spice. While ripe, the wine maintains an elegance that eschews the power of a heavyweight, though its warmer climate origins are unmistakable. The presence of oak on the nose is notable, suggesting it may benefit from an additional 3–4 years to fully integrate. The texture speaks to a cooler-climate influence, yet the richness unfolds beautifully into a crescendo of ripe, dark fruits, warming spice, moderate oak, and finely textured, exfoliating tannins. A subtle citrus acidity and leafy nuances emerge on the finish, adding a refreshing brightness that’s especially welcome in a Cabernet of this style."

"Ripe blue and black fruit on the nose, alongside dried herb, licorice and mint chocolate. Creamy and velvety, with a full body, but also minty freshness throughout. Silky tannins. Drink or hold."
James Suckling, August 2024, JamesSuckling.com
"The only red in the Boekenhoutskloof portfolio that uses grapes from Franschhoek - the farm and a second site that also supplies the winery's Semillon - this is always a comparatively forward, ripe, caressing style of Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with 14% Cabernet Franc for extra perfume. Paprika, cassis and green pepper flavours are framed by 95% new French oak. 2025-32"
