"The 2022 John Riddoch Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon is routinely a magnificent wine, a bastion of age-worthy Cabernet, framed in the Coonawarra paradigm of ripe fruit and ferruginous tannin. Here, the 2022 tastes bloody, meaty and chewy, with sweet roasted marrow and black exotic spices. Everything about this vintage is black. The wine is brooding and intense, yet it is also pure and focused; blackberry, pomegranate molasses, cassis, sumac and aniseed all mingle among the sea of structuring, cocoa-powder-esque tannins. It's a thing of inchoate beauty, one that will unfurl over many decades to come. 13.5% alcohol. Sealed under natural cork. Drink 2025-2052"

"Perfumed aromas of blackcurrants, tobacco, dark cherries, cedar, cigar box and violets. The palate is full-bodied and seamless, with fine tannins and densely packed flavors of blackberries, bitter chocolate, iron and dried herbs. A polished and refined wine that is built for aging but is drinking well now. Drink or hold. Screw cap."

"Inky plum in colour, clearly no issues with colour extraction in what was a relatively long and cool growing season. Things are a little earthier on the palate than usual, still with brambled hawthorn and blackberry fruits, tannins young and a little austere but with a ton of fresh capsicum and white pepper spice running through them. 67th vintage of this wine, from the oldest estate in the Coonawarra region. Hold +1 year or carafe 3 hours"

"Quite a smokey, reductive nose at first. Excellent structure, full and wide in the mouth but with soft powdery tannins that grow in structure as time goes on. Wonderfully ripe and rich - blackcurrants, black cherries and cigar smoke. Juicy and sumptuous, this is rich and is something you want to curl up around a hot fire in the winter. Captivating and so well made. Carries lovely flavours but with a moreish element that you just want another glass straight away. Eminently drinkable. Ends stony, fresh, minty with a herbal tinge."
