"The 2014 Capbern has a wonderful bouquet, very well-defined with blackberry, bilberry and cedar aromas; focused and vivacious. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity, quite approachable in style with a caressing raspberry and crushed strawberry finish. This is very fine and let’s face it: a bloody good value. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting."
Neal Martin, February 2018
"The 2014 Capbern is bold, ripe and quite juicy. Although not especially subtle, the 2014 possesses striking aromatic nuance, power and intensity. Dried cherry, licorice, herbs, tobacco and mint add attractive aromatic topnotes, but it is the wine’s juiciness that stands out most. This is a strong showing. The 2014 offers plenty of near- and medium-term appeal, but also has enough structure to drink well for at least a number of years. Tasted two times."
Antonio Galloni, February 2017
"Gorgeous bright and cheerful fruits, lovely dark plum colour, has the look and feel on a young wine, delivering tannic grip and hold. This could begin to be drunk today, but no need to rush, plenty of character and impressive black fruits. Excellent quality, harvest September 20 to October 10."
Jane Anson, October 2022
"Tasted blind. Very dark crimson. Very suave and sophisticated nose. Very juicy fruit and vibrant. Great attack and even a little hint of hot mustard on the palate! Not heavy. Great vitality."
