"The 2016 Siran has a deep garnet-purple color and nose of cassis and chocolate-covered cherries with wafts of black soil, licorice and violets. The medium-bodied palate is lively with grainy tannins and a good fruit core."
Lisa Perrotti-Brown, November 2018
"The 2016 Siran has a well-defined bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, rose petal and crushed violet aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, and quite saline in the mouth. The nicely proportioned finish displays very well-integrated oak. This is a gorgeous, sensual Margaux that should offer 20–30 years of drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting."
Neal Martin, January 2020
"The 2016 Siran is a powerful wine, just as it was en primeur. Dark fruit, chocolate, leather, espresso and spice add to the wine's dark, at times, heavy feel. In my view, there is a bit too much oak influence and overall extraction here. That is a shame, as the underlying materials is quite fine."
Antonio Galloni, December 2018
"A structured vintage where the amount of Cabernet Sauvignon rises back up after 2015. Dark plum in colour, full of depth with the kick of eucalyptus mint freshness on the finish that gives a cushion of acidity and air, and is a regular signature of Siran, particularly with the Cabernet Franc added from this year. Smoked earth also, good quality, still young but ready to begin drinking, less closed down than some other Margaux 2016s at this point. First year with Marjolaine Defrance as cellar master (promoted to technical director as of the 2022 vintage). Harvest September 26 to October 20, 35% new oak for ageing."
